I received this photograph from Robert Urwin and shows the Senior Boys School Choir. Robert is in the second from back row, LH >> RH are Leslie Rose (I think), David Meecham, Robert Urwin (Myself), Neville Dunn, Ronnie Gair and on. I can’t remember all the names but a good few. Just to add to Robert's names, I recognise Keith Taylorson from Thornley and also George Howe from Wheatley Hill. I have had an update from a young lady called Andrea who tells me that 5th from left, back row is Ian Brown and behind the lad, left in the front row is George Bean (also known as "The Milky Bar Kid") . Also 1st left, back row looks like Sid Hutchinson from Thornley. I have had some further updates on names from Stewart Carr. Stewart is located 3rd row from the back L/H side. 4th from left same row is (I think) Joe Purvis. Same row 3rd from right (I think) is Malc Bradley.
I think the photograph was taken 1961/1962 not sure. It’s only this morning I really noticed Thornley pit heap in the background( A lot of the boys in the picture were from there. It was a mixed school, that made life interesting). It was of course taken in the corner of the playground Wheatley Hill Boys Modern. Mr Harris the Headmaster, Ned Ward in his prime and of course Mr Etherington teaching English.
