I received these photographs from Paul Barrick. Paul currently lives in Knaresborough and his mother Violet is the little girl shown in the first photograph. Also shown is Paul's Grandfather Robert Henry Bennet, Grandmother Gladys Bennet and the children, Violet and Robert. They had 3 other children, in age order were George, Irene and William. Paul says that the photograph was taken in 1929. Paul mentions that his Grandfather worked at the pit as well as the three boys. Both Grandparents are buried in Wheatley Hill Cemetery

Memories from Paul....I have their original marriage certificate and my mother's home address was 7 Darlington Terrace. I can remember visiting the house when I wasn't much older than 2. The next time, about a year later and I remember this very well as it was my Grandfather's funeral(heart attack) and they lifted me up to see the body lying in the coffin in the front room. After that as a child I can remember visiting my Nana when she lived in Moor View. It is the right hand one of a pair of semi-detached houses with there backs to the main street. It is also pebble-dashed now. I can remember going there, coming up to my teen years and running across the fields to watch the empty coal wagons returning using gravity down the rail line to the front of the houses. Later and older, when I used to visit I used to accompany my Uncles to the club on a Sunday.

This is the shed where they lived when starting married life together. Paul thinks it might have been across the main road from Darlington Terrace, down where the allotments were and where the greyhound track is now.
